Help me give my students the Maker Space they need to create, collaborate, problem-solve and think critically.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. K.'s classroom raised $990

My Students
As a diverse group of students in NYC my students have many different strategies to solve everyday problems; they use their different backgrounds to help them come together as a community to work together.
Many of my students don't have the access to technology in their homes and by creating a Maker Space we will not only be opening up the concept of STEM to all grades but also reaching those who may not get the opportunity to otherwise explore and create with technology.
My Project
By creating a Maker Space for my school in all grades (K-5) we will be able to explore, be creative, learn to collaborate on projects, use hands-on materials, use critical thinking skills, and make an environment that will foster problem-solving and risk-taking.
The materials will allow the students to work together to try to rise up to real world challenges by building structures, circuits, and machines, all by using actual tools of the trade.
Through these exercises they will change their mindset to allow for making mistakes, not giving up, finding more than one way to solve a problem, and learn to work with others in brainstorming exercises in order to accept ideas from others.
