Maker Materials for Expanding Our Makerspace

My Students

My students are second graders who began a new journey in a new school with new friends this year! Last year our district closed several elementary schools and a middle school. The middle school reopened as a large elementary. Students came from the schools that closed as well as another school in the district. Staff and students began new together this year.

My classroom is focused on giving students freedom to research, design, create, and learn based on individual interests.

There are many learning choices throughout the day as well as flexible seating. My students use our makerspace to create and extend learning in all subject areas. They collaborate to plan, revise, and make in our room!

My Project

My students absolutely love creating in our makerspace! They use the makerspace to enhance learning in all subject areas. The materials in this project will give students even more choices for creating. They will be able to add wheels to make creations move and use boxes to have a foundation for creations. The whiteboards and markers will allow students to plan and revise plans as needed.

Making actively engages students in learning while pushing them to persevere through problem solving.

These materials will be used to create wind instruments, vehicles, ramps, maps, and much more. Students will collaborate, create, and innovate!
