My Students
Imagine moving to a new country. You walk into a classroom and you may not have ever had any formal education before. You have never read or written and you have this smiling teacher talking to you in a language you don't understand. These are the students I teach every day.
I teach STEAM and Computer Coding in a Title I school where 85% of my students are English as a New Language Learners.
The children at my school spend more time at school than they do at home. When the school day is over, most of them go to an after school program. Any part of their day that could bring fun and new experiences to them would be welcomed with excitement and enthusiasm. And this is what brought me to DonorsChoose.org!
My Project
The students I teach come from low income households, where English is their second language. Most of them have very limited English, so it is hard for them to communicate. In order for their voice to fully come through is by being creative with their hands. Being able to build with the ZOOB BuilderZ kits, will show their creativity and great imagination. It will also build their language skill along the way. Having to speak about what they are building and planning with their peers will create English language speakers.
ZOOB BuilderZ kits will make STEM learning come to life in my classroom.
The STEM challenges using ZOOB pieces will create problem solvers, helping them with math and reading as well. The things they can create with these kits are endless, like their imagination. I know these kits will benefit my students in ways I cannot fully express. Please help my students become the best STEM learners they can by supporting us in this project.
