This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are becoming "tech savvy" by learning how to type, use the Internet for research and recently learning how to do computer science through coding. The students are in love with technology!
My students are in a 3,4,5th grade self-contained special education class.
The class has 12 students and allows me to have more on one-on-one time to meet their specific needs. We are located in Washington Heights where most of my students receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
We have been working on adding more technology to our classroom. We currently have 4 laptops but the goal is to have at least 6 so partners can share a laptop to access curriculum. We are also fortunate to have a new printer. However, because of printing and copying so much we tend to run out of ink often and have little paper in the building. More ink and paper would allow us to print from our new laptops and the other laptops in our class!
The students will use these materials daily.
They will be able to access more of the curriculum online as well as be able to type up assignments. The ink and paper would allow for more practice activities and allow for us to have copies whenever we need them.
New laptops, paper and ink would be a great addition to our classroom. We would continue to have more experiences with technology and be able to have more practice whenever we want by printing from our computers!
