This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have very big hearts and truly make do with what they have. For some, school is their safe haven from extremely poverty-stricken and violent homes. My students are in a very low-income community. They are kind and loving but may not get all the things they need. I have really gotten to know these students in our building and their families very well. I have already learned that I have children who come from needy families. Some of my children come from split families where they may or may not see one or both parents. I am very lucky to be able to touch these kiddos' lives. They are very creative and love to be able to explore their learning world through my classroom.
Each child in the class has his or her own unique personality that has really brought our community together.
They are very creative and are starting to really enjoy the academic world and are improving every day.
My Project
Our school practices PBIS for positive behavior within the classroom. I am always looking for incentives that the kids work toward in order to maintain a positive environment. I am requesting the art supplies in order to build a community of well-rounded children. I asked for art trays because we know littles will make a mess so why not be proactive. The little art kits like the flower pots or the sun catchers will be one of the many classroom-wide incentives.
Let's brighten up these kids' worlds.
It is also being noticed that students did not have this opportunity last year to create art projects so I want to make up for the lost time.
