This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hungry to learn. For most of their education, math has not been accessible to them - but as they sit in my classroom with minds engaged and attention is given, I can see that their passion for learning has never been quashed. This coming year I will teach Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus, and I'm setting my sights high at college readiness. I don't just want my students to graduate from high school. I want them to bloom into proud and strong leaders who can think critically and reach their goals.

My students never give up - which is how I know that nothing should stand in their way.

In many ways, truth be told many have never been taught how to be traditionally "successful" students. The more I work with them the more I learn that they some have never been shown how to take notes, what questions to ask (all of them!), or how to begin a challenging problem. This has never stopped them, however, from trying; and I want to help them keep on this pathway of never giving up and striving for success.

My Project

This project has two distinct items that work together to help make the math visible in our classroom. First, these post-it pads are the only product that truly stick to the walls of our classroom. So they are the only way I can show off anchor charts for students to reference throughout the year. Secondly, my personal document camera has finally died, and without one I cannot model how to solve problems for my students!

The camera also comes in with a built in microphone, which I can use to record my lessons for absent students to listen to! These supplies will definitely help my students become college and career ready. The document camera is the only true way to demonstrate annotation, reading skills, and planning in a mathematics classroom.
