Help me give my students who don’t have tools at home access to the amazing new maker tools in our library by getting us computers they can use to design and create.
I have been working hard to create a maker space in our library, something that will provide opportunities for our students who do not have access to fancy maker tools at home to be able to create, design, and make. We have a cricut and a laser cutter, but the only computer in the library is a ten year old desktop that is so slow that it is more frustrating than helpful.
We need two new computers, one for each tool, to allow students to use these awesome resources effectively.
In a diverse school like ours with over half of the students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, having the ability to do this sort of work at school is critical to developing artistic and creative voice.
But as a small middle school, we are unable to offer many electives that would allow students to develop these skills. That’s why the library maker space is so essential. On behalf of my students, thank you so much for your support!!
