Make Students Happy With a Makerspace!

Help me give my students a Makerspace area in my library. I am asking for 2 iPod Touches to run our Spheros' and 2 Creative LEGO Brick Sets to add to the Maker Space.

My Students

My students are amazing! In this virtual world we are living in, they adapt to any new technology, programs or anything sent their way! We are an inner city school in Virginia and our students are so resilient and strong. They seem to adapt to anything.

I am a librarian and see every student in our school and each student in my school loves learning.

They are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. However, most of them are on the free/reduced lunch program; some may not know where they'll sleep each night. The library is open to the entire school and I want it to be a safe, exciting and engaging atmosphere for everyone of my students. As a librarian I want to continue to foster their curiosity and love of learning!

My Project

My students need creative outlets to grow and extend their learning through hands-on activities, by adding iPod Touches and LEGO Sets we will be able to take our students creativity to the next level!

Research continuously shows how STEAM and exploration in students’ lives promotes problem-solving, innovation, perseverance, real-world connections, and collaboration.

Our Makerspace centers are STEAM centers and will engage students in creative, higher-order problem-solving through hands-on design and construction. These items as part of lessons will inspire confidence in the design and engineering process.

These materials are the first steps in expanding our library program to include a much-needed makerspace!
