This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In November 2024, I stepped into the role of cheer coach at our 7th–12th grade school. Currently, I also serve in the physical education department—but this new role is a whole new adventure. We’re starting from the ground up with no uniforms, no gym bags, no pom poms, and not even bows.

When I was in high school, I cheered for three years.

Cheerleading helped me come out of my shell. It transformed a shy kid into the outgoing, confident person I am today. I want to give that same experience to my students.

Many of our students don’t often get the chance to be part of community-building activities—especially those that also look great on college applications. I want this program to be more than just cheers and stunts. I want it to help them grow, build confidence, feel like part of a team, and create memories they’ll carry with them long after they graduate.

We’re hoping to fundraise for all the essentials—uniforms, pom poms, bows, and everything else that helps bring a team together. With your support, we can give these students the full cheer experience they deserve.
