My Students

My kids are highly engaged students focused on exploring business concepts at an in-depth, real level. They are curious and well informed and, frankly, want to explore daily issues in a timely manner. Unfortunately, right now we're doing this work from home and, like me, my kids are working from home. They need a way to see me teach concepts in real time. I need to be able to demonstrate basic concepts, like how to post from the general journal to a general ledger, by showing them the movement from one area to the next. In the classroom, I could demonstrate on a white board. Now, I need different technology to accomplish the same goals.

My Project

My district released its "final" back to school plan. We are anticipating students returning to full classrooms full time. That being said, we have been asked to make our classrooms accessible for remote learning to allow students to learn remotely at their preference. We received guidance from our state board recommending the use of HEPA filters in enclosed rooms with poor air circulation. This aptly describes two of my work areas as one has no windows and the other has windows that don't open.

Moreover, our laptops must be able to be sterilized multiple times a day and have the capability to record sound at a professional level.

All of these "nice to haves" have become "must haves" in our weird Covid world. Kids are scared. Teachers are scared. This equipment will help me provide some normalcy to my students as I will be able to simulcast my lectures and record them, so students can participate regardless of whether they choose to be i the classroom or at home. The cleaning items/filters will help provide a safer environment for those who opt to learn in person.
