My students need activities to play during both inside and outside recess, particularly students in wheelchairs: Fire tablets, board games, ring toss, and an easel.
In teach in a special needs Pre-K classroom which includes students in wheelchairs. These students are excited to learn and participate with their peers but are limited in their mobility.
Our classroom is in a Title I school with a wide range of intellectual abilities.
Students range in ages 3-4 and are from different socioeconomic backgrounds. Students love free choice station and working with other students in their class. They also are very curious about the world.
My Project
Students in wheelchairs have limited activities to do during inside and outside recess. This project would give those students some options during those recess times.
An easel could be used to do sorting activities or drawing, Fire tablets to read or play games, and a variety of board games to play with their limited mobility.
This would allow other students to play also and help with socialization and social skills. Students would also practice teamwork, taking turns, and listening to others. Please consider donating and allowing recess to be fun for all students, even those 3 students in wheelchairs!
