This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is a place students can feel safe, take risks, and learn! These students complete many student-centered activities on a daily basis and they LOVE growing and becoming life- long learners.
Many students in my classroom do not have access to materials to help increase their learning potential at home, so I feel that it is my responsibility to expose them to as many new experiences of learning as possible.
I have a goal that by the time my students leave my classroom they have a thirst for knowledge and a love for learning!
My Project
I love using picture books to help my students grasp concepts we are focusing on in school. These books will allow my students to learn to love reading, or love reading even more!
The use of books like, "What to Do with a Problem" not only gives them books they can learn lessons from, but allows them to apply reading skills to what they have learned.
Some students become overwhelmed by long texts, giving them a chance to read/hear picture books and apply concepts we are working on will help motivate my students to gain a true love for reading.
I hope to inspire my students with the use of these books to gain a better understanding of reading, but also learn lessons along the way.
