My Project

English Language Learners will fill my advisory this upcoming school year. With over 20 students from different backgrounds and languages, it is a new challenge for both the school and me. The levels of my students will range from newcomers to those almost exiting the program. Although they will all be the same grade, with the varying levels, I hope to use a combination of picture books and novels to increase their language fluency, while also incorporating social emotional awareness.

Books have a wonderful way of building connection and empathy.

It connects students by using schema to create a shared understanding, while then building upon that to create a story with some kind of message, and ending with some kind of closing outcome.
