My Students

I teach in a low socioeconomic community. A large percentage of our students receive free or reduced-price meals. The families are extremely involved in their children's learning making my job so much easier.

Our community is so small that we have to bring the opportunities to them.

The students walk into my class each day full of wonder. I strive each day to show them that someone does care about them.

They are looking forward to what DonorsChoose.org can help provide for them!

My Project

I have a new reading initiative this year... Make Reading Fun Again! In doing so, I have gotten away from the traditional book report or test. The students are LOVING this! They are actually getting excited about reading again.

In an effort to give students a better way to show me "what they know" about their book, I am giving them creative freedom.

I would like to have an easier way to store all of the art and writing materials that the students use on a daily basis.

Many students like to express themselves in an artistic way through dioramas and mobiles, while others prefer to write. With the help of this project, they will be able to do both!
