My Students

Do you remember struggling to master addition and subtraction facts? Did you ever feel like you could not unlock the mysterious code to reading? My first graders face these struggles everyday as they try to master essential reading and math skills.

My class is eager to learn, but they do not always have the innovative tools they need to grow as learners.

The students are all striving to be the best they can be, despite the financial adversities they face. I would love their school to be a place that has plenty of rich resources to help them become successful, life-long learners.

My Project

By donating to our project, you will provide students with self-correcting, self-motivating skill practice for math (addition and subtraction facts, money identification, time telling, fractions) and reading (beginning and ending consonants, blends, digraphs, short and long vowels, irregular vowel patterns). My students will be able to use the "Hot Dot" pens to answer questions on the cards, relating to the skills mentioned above. The pens then visually (red or green lights) and verbally (way to go! try again!) encourage and correct their answers.

The "Hot Dots" phonics and math programs are both wonderful ways to reinforce and remediate skills that the students are developing.

By donating to this project, you are helping to foster students' independence and confidence in both their math and reading abilities.
