Make Pretend Makes Successful Kids

My students need multiple opportunities for independent, creative play which these learning materials would allow them to have.

My Students

My students are behaviorally challenged for one reason or another. They have poor self-regulation skills and therefore are very impulsive and driven by such strong emotions. We have a very small class so that we can have intense social-emotional learning opportunities.

Independent play is critical for their psychological, emotional, and physical development.

It also gives children a chance to practice their social skills that we practice as a class. In order for our students to achieve academically, we need to take care of these basic skills.

My Project

My students are not learning at the pace of their general education peers. They are still developing their basic social skills.

The Poseable Puppy, Log Builders Set, the play kitchen sets, play food sets and the toy cash register will allow my students to practice their social skills while they play "store" and "house".

Make pretend is one of the best ways to help students to learn social skills so that later on, they may be successful in their general education classrooms. I would love my students to have materials that they may create and build with and I would love for them to play together in fun settings as a grocery store, a house, and/or a restaurant. Social settings that they are a part of every week and therefore need that practice!
