Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday you can walk by my classroom at 1:20 and hear a cheer coming from inside. The cheer comes when I tell my students to get ready for P.E.
My third grade students work hard in the classroom and they want to play just as hard outside of the classroom.
My school is located in a low income neighborhood and unfortunately contains no grass for my students to play on during recess or P.E. My students would be eager to have this equipment that would make P.E. more varied and interesting and help them to become better at two of their favorite games, basketball and soccer.
My Project
Since my school contains no grass fields, I am a little limited in the activities which I can plan for my students during P.E. I currently have no basketballs or soccer balls in my classroom that I can use for P.E. Since the school is limited in supplies, any equipment like this that the school has is reserved for the entire school to use during recess. I would like to have enough soccer balls and basketballs in order to teach my students drills and skills so that they can play these games properly. I see my students trying to play these games during recess but they do not know the rules or have sufficient skills so their games quickly deteriorate into a jumbled mess.
All teachers know that everything that happens outside of the classroom has an impact on the academic progress of students.
I want to use the equipment I am requesting to help improve the performance of my students in the classroom by providing them with better physical education lessons. My students will be happier, healthier, and hopefully this enrichment will help them to also improve in the classroom.
