Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a group of diverse, middle school, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. We are at a Title l school. Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic background. I strive to have my classroom accessible and equitable, but that becomes a challenge when resources are limited.
My students are current and future scientists who are excited to learn about the world around them through curiosity, observation, data collection, and application.
My students are all eager to learn and make self-discoveries in science. They come to school knowing that it's a safe place where they can create meaningful connections with their peers and teachers. They come with little to no background knowledge of the science content, but they are willing and strive to soak up all the knowledge that is presented to them. My students are wonderful young men and women who are ready to take on the world.
My Project
The materials we have requested are needed to perform everyday activities and hopefully bring a sense of normalcy and routine back into the classroom. We have requested markers for students to use as they complete assignments such as poster projects and color coding their interactive notebooks. Pencils are a must in the classroom as every student needs a pencil to take notes and complete assignments. Not having a pencil is a challenge that can easily be solved by having some extra on hand. The activity trays are for science labs that we will hopefully be able to do again this year; these will streamline passing out and organizing lab supplies so that students have more time to perform hands on experiments.
We are requesting some basic items for our science classroom so that we are prepared for the start of the school year and can use these materials and supplies throughout the year.
