My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with scholars from diverse backgrounds. Nearly all scholars qualify for free school meals.
Despite socioeconomic disadvantages, our melting pot of scholars possesses a positive outlook on learning.
Each child is unique and deserves quality resources and experiences that will shape their future.
We are a Title I school however, it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase materials and resources. Basic classroom supplies are in high demand in our school, and our scholars deserve to experience high-quality education and resources.
My fourth grade integrated co-teaching classroom is comprised of both general education students and students with an array of disabilities including learning disabilities and speech and language impairments. My students learn at different paces and have a variety of learning styles.
My Project
My students learn best in a small group and a moving easel would improve students' outcomes by improving their ability to focus with having the classwork on the board directly in front of them.
A movable easel would allow me to move around the room from student to student to provide them small group instruction while adhering to social distancing mandates.
Small group instruction is essential to students with disabilities making progress towards their IEP goals and grade level standards. With the current pandemic, teachers have had to modify the way small instruction looks in the class to be in compliance with distancing rules.
