Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The community our school serves is near San Francisco. The school's demographic is a mix of primarily Latino/a, Asian, and Black.

My students constantly surprise me with their energy, compassion and awareness!

They are a compassionate bunch of kids, noticing when their peers are sad and working towards building a classroom community where they feel safe. Their awareness of the world they live in is always astounding - they are often telling me about the current events going on right now! Coming into school every day is always a surprise of what they are going to teach me or show me that day and I love it.

They have a very diverse set of hobbies, many of them enjoying soccer or basketball as well as music, dance and art. Their artwork is VERY impressive and they are a very creative bunch.

My Project

These chairs will help to add more seating options for our students, especially the ones with TONS of energy. Many of our students have a hard time sitting in a chair for a whole class period (especially 90 minute block schedule days!). Even with brain breaks and activities to get them up and out of their seat, it can still be challenging to sit in a traditional chair because they need to move more. Right now we have two elementary school height wobbly chairs that are very hot commodities despite being too short.

These stools will help students be comfortable and ready to learn!

Wobble chairs help to allow students to get out their wiggles while staying in their seat and can really help to keep the focus on the learning instead of our excess energy.
