My Students

I have 27 amazing students in a Title I School. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical".

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.

I may not be able to control their home lives. However, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.

My Project

My goal for every school year is to increase attendance. One way to improve attendance is by eliminating the number of germs that float around in our classroom. Germs lead to many student absences and lost learning opportunities.

Students are coming to school with runny noses and colds, and it's important to stop the spread of germs and keep our classroom healthy.

Clorox Wipes will help decontaminate and clean all of our surface areas in our classroom. Every day when they use the classroom headphones and kindles, they must be wiped down with disinfectant wipes to stop the spread of germs. Having sufficient Kleenex will enable students to be able to cover and wipe their noses without having to leave the classroom. Once we have created a clean and healthy atmosphere, it will lead to healthier students, improved attendance, and a better education!
