My Students
I teach in a Title I school in an urban hub where funding oftentimes hinder my students ability to have access to costly technological, artistic, and/or general learning supplies. My students are creative, high-spirited and artistic introspective learners that enjoy demonstrating their learning through various forms, however oftentimes my students do not have access to those applications because a large number of them come from low income households. I prefer to teaching using visual and engaging applications because it allow me to enhance my students grasp on complex historical content while simultaneously teaching a new technological and style set.
When my students are presented with an opportunity to learn through engaging means they are able to demonstrate their higher order thinking skills using technological and visual applications.
These types of learning tools/platforms created critical thinkers an really enables them to excel.
My Project
I am a high energy and engaging teacher and this site matches my enthusiasm for presenting materials in an engaging manner. This site catches the students eyes and helps them to understand historical events that may be difficult to grasp through other learning formats.
Brainpop.com will also allow my students to have a platform that will provide them with an opportunity to learn through critical thinking activities such as primary source documents and political cartoons.
This platform will enhance their virtual learning experience because this will help walk them through those higher order thinking activities at their own pace since we are not in a physical school building.
These resources will enable me to create learning activities that will encourage learning for some of my students that will struggle with virtual learning. These materials will serve as guidance that will aid in my creativity as I delve into virtual teaching.
