Help me give my students Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces (VNPS) for the opportunity to make their thinking visible to themselves and their peers.

My Project
Students love challenges, but tend to shy away from making mistakes. They have learned that "the correct answer" is all that matters, so many students will not take a chance to write something if they are unsure. I work to help my students to embrace mistakes as part of the learning process. I help them to understand that doing a problem "wrong" is not actually a problem. But how can we get students to take those chances?
These whiteboards will give my students a safe space to try their ideas alongside their peers without fear of permanency.
VNPSs allow students to collaborate, make mistakes, and then erase/correct as ideas develop. The differences in visibility of thinking between non-permanent surfaces and pencil/paper as a writing medium is astounding. Thinking becomes more visible. Discourse becomes richer. Ideas flow. Connections are made between concepts, and understanding deepens. After that, the answer is easy.
