One recent lesson had students work in small teams to follow a picture‑sequenced recipe for a fruit parfait: they practiced measuring, identifying ingredients, taking turns, and using timers. Students also planned meals and worked together to create and share different dishes with each other — including tacos, spaghetti and meatballs, ice cream, and pizza — and watching a student who previously avoided group tasks confidently spoon yogurt into cups and proudly serve their classmates was a highlight. The supplies created an accessible, low‑stress way for them to join in and demonstrate growth in independence and collaboration.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the whole class lit up — students explored tools at their own pace, asking questions and immediately imagining recipes to try. That excitement translated into increased engagement during subsequent lessons and a noticeable boost in attendance for our cooking sessions.
