My Project

Tinkertar guitars are fun, appealing instruments that will enhance music education for my Kindergarten through Second Grade students. Tinkertars are child-sized, one-string guitars designed for young learners. These special instruments provide an ideal introduction to string instruments. Their lightweight frame, simplified tuning, and durability make them accessible and age-appropriate for K–2 students. Tinkertars are shaped like animals, pizza slices and other child friendly designs that are certain to be favorites for every child. This grant will enable me to integrate hands-on instrumental learning into our music curriculum and provide performance opportunities that nurture creativity, confidence, and community engagement.

This grant will provide a joyful, hands-on introduction to instrumental music for our youngest learners—many of whom would not otherwise have access to such opportunities.

The goals of having Tinkertars are to:

• Enhance early music education by integrating Tinkertars into weekly music center rotations and small group instruction.

• Support fine motor development, rhythm, and pitch recognition through active guitar play.

• Provide performance opportunities such as mini-recitals or classroom showcases to build confidence and encourage parental engagement.

• Create inclusive learning spaces where all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, can access high-quality instruments.

• And make learning music fun and appealing to every child.

By funding Tinkertar guitars for our music program, you will help my students build a strong foundation in the arts that supports academic, social, and emotional growth.
