This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am s Special Education Support Services Teacher. I serve students mostly in grades 2-5. Students are served either individually or in small groups. This is my first year in this position servicing kids in this capacity. This position is designed to help students in need of additional supports in reading, writing and math. The degrees of support are varying depending on student individual needs. A combination of the pandemic and their disabilities have left my students at a critical disadvantage in reading.
My Project
I am in need of resources to help my students gain the most basic reading skills. My students are reading way below grade level and are in need of resources that appeal to their learning styles. The materials will be used to practice reading. I want to create a more hands-on environment where students can be active participants in their learning. A previously stated, I am working with a special needs population and would like to create an environment with books that are engaging and encourage them to read.
