Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As high school educators, we spend the majority of our day actively teaching—leading whole-group lessons, conferring with students, facilitating small groups, and circulating throughout the classroom to provide individualized support. I am requesting a standing desk and board to create a healthier, more flexible workspace that allows my students and myself to remain mobile, energized, and fully present throughout the day.

With a standing desk, my students and I will be able to mobilize ourselves as we present to the classroom.

Students will be given the opportunity to move around freely during their class presentations instead of simply standing in front of the room as everyone watches them. I will also utilize this desk to remain mobile during my lessons as well. This increased mobility will allow me to quickly respond to student needs, provide immediate feedback, and engage more consistently with every learner. Instead of being anchored to a traditional desk, I can remain at eye level with students, actively monitor progress, and model engagement and stamina during lessons. The same goes for students during their class presentations.

By creating a classroom environment where both teachers and students value active learning, we promote sustained attention, positive classroom culture, and stronger academic outcomes. By investing in a standing desk for my classroom, you are directly supporting a more responsive, energized, and student-centered learning environment where every child benefits from engaged, attentive instruction.
