This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we all know some people really struggle with math, but it is NOT because they are incapable. Every student can become a mathematician if they have received the right instruction and have the right manipulatives on hand.

Math should be fun and hands-on, but that can be challenging when we don't have the appropriate materials or games in our classroom.

It is imperative that students have access to the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. We need more hands-on manipulatives and math tools to make our classroom more tactile. Being able to manipulate objects such as the math counters and counting cones I am asking for can really bridge those gaps for students who need help in using manipulatives to count. They will use them to sit and practice counting independently or with peers. They will use the Pop Add game to make connections between counting and combining objects. They can also demonstrate their learning by creating number sentences with the magnetic numbers I am asking for.

Students are always so eager and excited about games. Not only can games help them to apply, practice, and master math skills, but they enable students to also develop vital social-emotional skills through playing games. I want to give our wonderful students at our school access to as many fun math games as possible!
