My Project

Scholastic News is a fun, interactive magazine that enriches a child's learning through real world experiences. This magazine promotes nonfiction skills in literacy, social studies, and science. Scholastic provides students a relevant way of learning current events and promoting critical thinking skills in multiple levels to reach all learners.

Scholastic News encourages a love of reading with articles that will interest every student; even the most resistant readers!

It enhances learning by building students’ background knowledge and providing opportunities for kids to take learning home and promote that so important home-school connection.

This subscription will help my young readers by providing materials that will pique their curiosity and get them motivated to read and learn. When I have used this magazine in the past, the students loved them and always asked when they could do the next one. The learning is relevant and exciting to them, even with their diverse backgrounds! I am able to reach so many students using this magazine! The digital accessibility is very beneficial to struggling readers as it can be read to them, so they will also have the opportunity to learn. We will use these in my reading stations, as well as incorporate them into science/social studies/writing blocks. It is a great cross-curricular assignment.
