Help me give my students durable headphones, pencils, chart paper, index cards, and folders to support their classroom learning. These materials allow students to reach success in their own organized, safe, and efficient way.
My name is Emily Artinian, and I am a fifth-year teacher. My students are some of the strongest, most motivated, and most compassionate human beings I know. As a freshman English teacher, I have the opportunity to help students launch their high school careers and watch them grow over the next four years. I hope to raise enough money to fund this project to make learning feel attainable, vital, and efficient.
I hope to replace and replenish our most-used materials to ensure my incoming 2024-2025 students are prepared to realize and reach their potential.
This would include materials like durable headphones for students to review our reading with the audiobook, listen to podcasts/storytelling, listen to music to aid their focus in their writing workshops, and dozens of other reasons.
We need pencils (in bulk) so we have consistent access to writing materials. Post-its will help with annotating our class sets of novels. Chart paper will help us discuss our learning, reading, and opinions (as well as design and create poster projects). We will use larger index cards for mini posters to facilitate learning with vocabulary, writing, and grammar proactive. Folders will help keep student work and notes organized for each unit.
I have used DonorsChoose before to fund my classroom and was lucky to have my previous year's project funded. This was a massive win for our classroom as we had more access to learning materials throughout the year. It alleviated the financial strain on supporting our room in a way that did not require my students or me to scrounge for materials at the last minute.
