Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first grade students are students who have spent much of their foundational learning and growing time during COVID. Their exposure to basic communication and peer interaction was very limited. I have included some great social emotional learning books that can help facilitate beneficial conversations with their peers about struggles and real life situations they may face.

I have also included items to help my students master some of the basic literacy skills that they came to first grade lacking in.

We are working on things like cutting, writing letters properly, and identifying the letters of the alphabet. Most students come to first grade with these skills, but this year, there is a learning gap that needs to be filled.

In order to make learning even more fun, I have included some manipulatives that will help students grasp concepts much easier and quicker. We will be using those manipulatives to build not only academic concepts, but also to build their social skills as they learn how to share and discuss ways to construct new learning.

This year, we have decided to put an emphasis on some STEM lessons for science. Included in this project are resources that will be vital to our students being able to build and learn!

Lastly, there are some organizational items that will help students keep these materials neat and organized so that they can be used for years to come.
