I'm a third grade teacher at an Elementary School located in Chicago. Approximately 91% of our students are from low-income homes. I have worked here for 4 years and I absolutely love teaching third grade! The third grade team of teachers is working really hard to improve the academic performance of our students. We spend many hours after school collaborating and planning activities that will motivate our students to learn more and do better on the standardized tests they will take in March. We realize kids learn more when they are having fun! That's why we are beefing up the curriculum with as many interactive activities and differentiated instruction as possible. I would like to use one hour every Friday for the review and reinforcement of concepts learned since the beginning of the year through fun games. There is an AMAZING interactive Jeopardy game that I know my students would absolutely love. I would be able to type in questions and possible answers that the students could answer as part of teams. I KNOW this would be an amazing tool that would motivate and inspire the students in their learning. There's also a smaller game in which I can ask questions and students touch the buzzer to answer the question. I would like to use this game for smaller group settings. Both of these games will help the students prepare for the standardized testing, not to mention how it will motivate them to learn! Thank you in advance, for looking to make an impact on these incredible young people that you don't have the privilege of knowing.
