My Students

I teach at an amazing school in the middle of the amazing Saguaro National Park in Arizona. Wonderful and amazing students are in my class every year with parents who support their learning on a daily basis. My students are first graders who are learning how to read, write and do Math. They are also at that time of their lives where they are learning to love going to school or not. Having the resource to many activities and modes of learning may spark this excitement.

My school is in a low-income, rural area and many of the families at our school have to drive long ways to work and work very hard for every penny they earn.

The families at our school may not have the money to have their own books or activities at home or enough educational resources to keep their interest so I want to make sure I have in my classroom for them.

My Project

These materials will be used in small group centers to help enrich the students learning in class. For example, students can use the legos to spell sight words or to count in math. They can use the learning puzzles when learning about time, addition, or place value. One of the things I hate most is hearing a student tell me that learning is boring. These games and interactive materials will be used to help make learning fun.

Learning doesn't always have to be sitting at a table and working on a worksheet.

Learning can be by creating, interacting, and having fun. These manipulatives will be used on a daily basis even as the concepts change because they can be adapted to many different lessons.
