My students need six durable Behringer headphones, Lakeshore Math Linking Cubes, a Lakeshore leveled library from A to J, and five Gaiam balance balls.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Diverse is a fitting word to describe my students. I serve ELL students (English Language Learners) and students with disabilities including specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and emotional trauma. 85% of the students at my school are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. 67% speak a first language other than English. They come from different backgrounds and have unique learning styles. They all dream of doing something great one day. Their passion for learning inspires me to create a learning environment that will meet their needs physically, socially, and emotionally.
My Project
My students need six durable Behringer headphones, Lakeshore Math Linking Cubes, a Lakeshore leveled library from A to J, and five Gaiam balance balls. These awesome supplies would benefit my students academically, physically, and emotionally. We are in need of a leveled library to support the different readers in our room. Students enter first-grade at many different reading levels and a leveled library would meet the needs of all readers. The math linking cubes would be used to solve addition and subtraction problems, create and explore patterns, and measure!
This may look like a hodgepodge of a DonorsChoose project, but these supplies would be used in many ways throughout this year and years to come in first-grade.
The headphones and balance balls would serve a different purpose in our room. Students use computers each day and our headphones have seen better days. These Behringer headphones are durable and noise canceling. The Gaiam Balance balls would help support our physical needs. First-graders have lots of energy and sometimes need to bounce a little (or a lot) as they work.
