My Students
As a teacher of severely handicapped class, everyday is an adventure. My students have different exceptionalities. Some of them have intellectual disabilities, autism, hearing impairment, and orthopedic impairment. In addition, all of them have speech and language impairment. They use speech generating devices to help them communicate and participate in class activities. Visual schedule is important to help them transition from one activity to another. Each of them is unique and has different learning needs that need to be met.
My Project
Teaching students with different needs is challenging. Despite their exceptionalities I need to provide them with all the opportunities to learn. The materials that I requested will definitely help my students acquire the skills that they need in order to be successful in the classroom. One of the issues that my students are experiencing is turn taking. The games that I requested will give them the chance to play with others and learn turn taking skills. In addition, those games will also improve their motor skills. It's just one example, imagine how my students will response and enjoy using the other materials that are included in this project.
