Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hands-on learning can make a world of difference for our students. In our post Covid world, we really want to get our students fully immersed in their learning.

Whether that means hands-on phonics, work with playdough, dry erase boards, sand or sound tiles on a cookie sheet, having fidget bands on our chairs so we can move our bodies, or adding some calming items to our peace place.

These items will have a huge impact.

Sometimes, we just need a few things to take our classroom and learning to the next level. Students being able to manage their own time using timers and being able to visually see their voice levels in a stop light will make it so we can close those gaps created by Covid 19 faster because I won't have to stop my instruction to communicate expectations or to answer time questions. The way a classroom feels can make a world of difference. Having lamps and lights that enable us to give the room a calming glow that doesn't bother them like classroom lights often do will make it so students are immersed in an environment that they want to be! Keeping the large classroom lights off are especially key in our classroom as it doesn't have AC and can get very warm.

Help us take our peace place, phonics work and classroom to the next level and close those gaps created by Covid-19 by immersing our students' senses and having hands-on tools to learn to read and write.
