See what Mrs. Touchard is requestingMy students need a Livescribe Echo Smartpen to assist them with note-taking and to read information presented in writing. My students also need timers to help with focus and pacing.

My students have been identified as learning disabled. This means that their learning is impeded due to a diagnosis of attention deficit disorder, specific learning disability, or autism. Some of my students’ specific learning disabilities challenge them in how they process information whether in an auditory or visual manner. These students have struggled academically for most of their time in school. Due to their learning disabilities, tasks such as reading, note-taking, and active participation in classroom discussions can be challenging.
My caseload of special education students are served in a general education classroom through a co-taught approach- two classroom teachers in one classroom.
I work with a general education teacher who is responsible for standards, curriculum, and pacing and I am responsible for the knowledge of my students’ needs and how to meet those needs with specially designed instruction. These students receive the same content as their peers but they may need additional steps, guidance, and resources in order to access learning of the content.
Students who have deficits in visual-motor skills and problems interpreting written notes can be helped through the use of this pen. This special pen has an infrared camera in the tip, as well as microphone, which enables it to simultaneously record what the student is writing and what the student is hearing. This creates a pen cast which is a digital interactive copy of written notes combined with audio synced to notes. In order to have better access to the curriculum, this pen will be a tool to provide audio to what has been written down.
