Help me give my students 20 USB headsets with microphones so they can create audio narrations of their work.

My Students
My school is a Title I, high-poverty, school in NY, with over 1,500 6th-8th grade students. Nearly 1/2 of my students have disabilities, and many are learning English as a second language. This year, I have 377 students in my technology classes.
In my computer lab, students have plenty of tools for listening, but none for speaking.
My students love educational videos at sites like Brainpop, but I bet many would love even more to make their own videos. They listen to my narration of my recorded lessons, but have no way to similarly speak about their own work. They also love adding prefab sound files to the programs they write, while the most creative students have found ways to create their own sound files to augment their programs.
In technology classes, my students are constantly creating. With the the right tools, their projects can make their learning not just visible, but audible as well.
My Project
As teachers, we are often told to "make learning visible"- but we can also make it audible. My students have a lot to say, and I want to help them say it! In our computer lab, we have plenty of headphones for students to LISTEN to their computers, but none for them to SPEAK into their computers. With a class set of USB headsets with microphones, my students can narrate their work or use their own voices as components of their coding projects.
In our twice-weekly technology class, there are ample opportunities to amplify student voices - my students will use USB headsets with microphones to document their learning.
I always begin my school year with a unit on Digital Citizenship, using animated videos and tools at Brainpop.com. Brainpop also allows students to create their own educational videos- with USB headsets with microphones, students can provide the narration that documents the skills, content, and citizenship they have learned. I use a similar set of headsets to record my coding demonstrations, and during our last project, 1 6th grader had the idea to borrow them so he could record his own sound effects and dialogue to include in his animation at Scratch.mit.edu. In addition, microphones can be used for recording student speech at foreign language instruction websites like duolingo.com.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our technology classroom by giving students the tools to not just make their learning visible, but also audible!
