This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
No matter the age, stickers are awesome. So are Post-Its for that matter. Students enjoy sharing thoughts, brainstorming, and collaborating with Post-its. They are not as intimidating as a large blank sheet of paper. A small colorful square is friendly and engaging. It stimulates thought and inspires group discussions.
It is important to give differentiated and varied learning opportunities to students.
In doing so it helps keep engagement high from students at every level.
Additionally, every students receives stickers on a regular basis in my classroom. They are not reward based, they are just for showing up on any given day. This SEL activity allows students to let me know how well they understand the assignment we worked on that day or something more personal, such as positive or negative interactions going on at school or in their personal lives. It is a small thing but always brings a smile. Little things like like stickers, Post-Its and even colored pens add vibrancy and life to a classroom.
