My Project
The fast paced technology filled society we live in makes teaching young children the old fashioned way very challenging. These 5 and 6 year old “Covid Babies” spent half of their lives time stuck in the house using technology to keep them entertained. Educators talking to them does not give them the same instant gratification that they have become accustomed to. They tune us out very easily.
I have decided to embrace technology and use it to my advantage as a tool to teach.
The kiddos have iPads assigned to them that they use for educational activities. We also have a smart board in the classroom that I hook up to my laptop to play educational videos on. YouTube has become my go to every day. When I turn on a video to reinforce the lesson the kiddos instantly pay attention!
These students absolutely love to create books for our classroom library. They are so proud to share each others’ pages in the books! It would be even nicer to make a book for each child to take home to share with their families too. Taking photos for classroom projects & seeing them on the walls excites them! It is great for their self esteem. At school I am only able to copy things in black and white. My students love making colored class books to share with each other! However being that there is only one book, they are never able to take them home to share with their families!
I would love to have the ability to instantly print out their photos to hang up & copy their book pages so each child can have a colored copy to take home. A color copier/printer in my classroom would make me able to do that! Wallah, instant gratification!
