Help me give my students new mobile desks that will allow them to safely store books and materials without clutter, while also allowing me to move the workspace around the classroom as needed.
As you enter my class you would usually see several moving parts with students rotating from station to station and collaborating with each other. Small groups with teacher support, students recording and responding to videos, while others may be reading quietly in the corner.
However, due to keeping students in one workspace all day, we are lacking the fluency and movement we would usually see.
We have been learning and teaching in ways that we never thought would be needed. Our students are continuously showing up, working hard, and always seem to find the best in each situation. Their smiles and laughs help us carry on and smile back.
Now that we are back in the classroom, we must adapt and overcome all obstacles to create the best learning environment.
My Project
My students currently sit in fixed workspaces and rarely move around the classroom due to covid restrictions. By providing these mobile desks, I will be able to move students into different locations without worrying about materials and desks being used by other students. The compartments for storage will free up the clutter on top of desks to enable the students to work in a more organized and clutter-free environment.
Better storage equals better organization, which eventually leads to a less stressful day and increased learning.
My goal is to eliminate most tables and non-mobile desks in the classroom, which will allow us to adapt to any learning and cooperating situation we encounter well after restrictions change.
