My students come to school every day with the desire to learn and be loved. They want to learn new things and explore the world around them. I always try to make their day one that is full of fun and hands-on engaging activities to enhance their learning and development. Each child learns differently and it is my job to help those learners any way I can.
I do everything I can to help my students be the best they can be!
Our school building is under construction and won't be ready for another year. Currently, we are housed in a nearby middle school. The students and staff make do with what we have and we never lose our positivity. Everywhere you look, you see a smiling face at our school. Despite the "borrowed" building, the students and staff have made it home.
My Project
My students have STEM kits that they love. It helps them to problem solve and be creative in their thinking, but each kit is geared towards a theme or story and does not allow them to be more creative.
This is why I want to create a maker space in my classroom for them to be creative with a variety of objects and explore in a hands-on approach.
My students will need a variety of art materials for this new maker space. These materials include: pipe cleaners, glue, beads, paper, playdoh, and popsicle sticks. With these materials and a few recyclables, my students will be able to make anything their imagination desires. They will use everyday items in a new and exciting way.
My students will also need new tinker toys such as K'nex, bricks, and tinker straws to create with no waste. These items will be used daily and reused unlike the art supplies, but they will still inspire my students to be creative and think outside the box.
I cannot wait to introduce the maker space to my students this year. These items will enhance that space and make it an amazing place for them to create, learn and play.
