This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are motivated to learn about money. They see their parents use it when they go shopping, they receive it for their birthday as a gift, and some even earn an allowance which they save or use to buy themselves treats and other items. Using money and knowing/understanding money is some of the first steps my students take towards being a big kid. However, not all my students have mastered coin recognition and their values yet, let alone counting several coins to make a total, or the reverse, taking a total and showing correct combinations of coins to make that amount. They need practice, and this is where the requested leveled money games, the Quizmo money bingo game, and a voice amplifier can help make a difference. The leveled games will allow my students to work independently or with a partner to learn about money; having autonomy to work through the activities is very motivating for some of my students. The money bingo game will be used as a group activity during Fun Friday activities; bingo is fun and my kids get really excited to play as they hope to be the first to yell Bingo as they work quickly to find coin combinations for the totals called. And the voice amplifier will be used while playing Bingo, whether the caller is an adult or student; having a voice amplifier will allow the caller to be heard over the AC running, the air purifier running, and my students who are having fun and are excited to play Bingo. If the caller can't be heard then no one is having fun, and learning doesn't take place.
