Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Whereas some only see basketball as a simple game. I see it as an opportunity to change lives. Many of our students come from environments where they don't have the resources to pay for personalized training or individual skill work to learn a sport. For some, the first time they pick up a basketball is in the 9th grade. The Sklz Rebounder will train players to catch the ball while they move, set their feet, and square up to take correct jump shots. The agility rings are perfect for teaching proper footwork and coordination. Both skills are a necessity for up-and-coming basketball players.

The ball may stop bouncing but the lessons learned will last forever.

Through basketball, students will learn principles such as cooperation, teamwork, commitment, and dedication. All of these principles will carry on to help them in other aspects of their lives.

The products that I have selected will help my students develop the fundamental skills that they need to be successful in basketball. They will not only be used by both our boys' and girls' teams, but by a multitude of students in our school building.

Basketball is a game that has changed my life as a student, player, and now coach. Our goal is to provide our students with a new opportunity while creating a healthy distraction from their current environment at home. With your help, I can pay it forward and change the lives of others.
