Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Friends, let me tell you something about teenagers that you already know: They need lots of firm yet supportive love from adults, unfathomable levels of patience as they maneuver life change, and deodorant-- LOTS of deodorant. That said, I am eager to announce that I am entering my first official year teaching 6th grade Language and Literature. Ya'll, teaching teens has easily been the most personal work I've ever done in my life; and as I enter my first year, I want to share with you what's on my mind that perhaps you might consider as well.
These youth are our future: Our future managers, teachers, artists, researchers, poets, doctors, politicians, business owners, lawyers, and scientists-- the list goes on.
Chances begin with opportunities-- and all of our children deserve them. Ladies and gentlemen, this journey towards a promising future begins with a resourced classroom. This project is to provide my youth with what they need to be successful. Attached is a "classroom wish list," to support the work that is being done in our room. Whether it's buying an item or sending encouragement, know your love and support is cherished-- thank you!

Every teacher needs basic materials in order to run a classroom efficiently and to provide high quality instruction. The materials listed in my "Classroom Wish List" are just that.

From the staples in the corner of your paper, to the markers you write on the board with. It all matters. It all plays a roll in ensuring that basic academic needs are being met. My hope is that by starting with a resourced classroom this Fall, our learning community will start off on a solid foundation that provides the tools for their success later on.
