The students who attend our school are a diverse mixture of kids with varying ethnicities, income levels, neighborhoods, and family structures. Our school is located in an urban setting near lower income neighborhoods, and while many of our students live in this neighborhood, we also have students from some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city; several middle class neighborhoods and students currently living in shelters. Our students are Asian, Hmong, Mexican, African American, and Caucasian. They live in two parent homes, single parent homes, and no parent homes. The cultural representation we have is both exciting and challenging!
My Project
The supplies I requested will help my students get into character while studying history. The costumes I'm hoping to receive will better equip my students to take on the roles of famous people from history and view life through their eyes.
While getting into character, my students deserve to be comfortable!
The clipboards I'm requesting will allow them to move about the room while completing observations and gathering information and having negotiations. The stools are going to be great alternative seating for when sitting in a desk for too long becomes a hindrance to learning. They will also make for great "on stage" sets for when we do historical interviews!
The materials you are providing will allow my students more flexibility and creativity in their learning!
