My Students

My students are quirky, kind, and fun.

They are from a wide variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and lifestyles but melt together into one friendly and cohesive middle school.

Some of my favorite moments of the 2020 school year have been during week one. Each student came back after a six-month break, sat down in their desks, and started visiting with their neighbors. It didn't matter who it was. They were just excited to be back communicating with others. School is important for so many reasons and not all are academic.

I feel so lucky to be able to teach them life skills!

My Project

Choices Magazine is a great way for students to learn must have life skills such as resiliency, stress management, and empathy. This magazine can be accessed digitally and via printed copies which are mailed to our classroom. Having access to digital resources is a great asset for the current state of the world.

Designed with grades 7-12 in mind, Choices is the current health and SEL resource that's relevant to today's teens and their struggles.

The publication provides opportunities for students to extend their learning and explore areas of interest all while teaching key vocabulary and big ideas. There are student-friendly stories, videos, activities, and more. This would be such a useful resource in our Family and Consumer Science Classroom!
