This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from a variety of cultures and home situations. Many begin their educational journey ill equipped and find themselves struggling behind peers. Despite these differences and challenges, we have come together with a common goal: to improve our minds with quality education.

Our school, and the community it serves, strives to close achievement gaps with dedicated teachers and high quality instruction.

These young minds deserve to experience the scholastic success that hard work, dedication, and effort can provide.

My Project

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many students are experiencing ever widening learning gaps. This is especially true for students who are multi-language learners, students with disabilities, and students experiencing poverty. If these learning gaps are not addressed, many students will fall behind and face an uncertain future.

As challenging as this problem may be, these widening learning gaps can be addressed and narrowed using high quality instruction using engaging materials.

These text sets will provide engaging topics and colorful pictures to use as intervention materials for students with learning gaps. Additionally, incorporating letter tiles into interventions will allow students to practice vital phonics skills they may be lacking. Daily journaling books will provide students with a routine to engage in grade level specific content at regular intervals.

These materials will allow students to engage in meaningful and productive interventions that will target specific areas of need.
