Make, Explore, Craft and Tinker in Our School Library!
Help me give my students the opportunity to think critically, problem solve, use their creativity and participate in teamwork through Makerspace activities when they come to the library! These activities help children develop 21st-century skills!
My goal for our school's Makerspace is to provide our students with materials to act as crafters, inventors, tinkerers, makers and Do-It-Yourselfers! A Makerspace helps students develop talents, problem solving skills, and mental rigor. It is a collaborative work space where students explore, create and share ideas. It exposes students to new opportunities and ways of thinking!
Our students love coming to the library to check out books and use the very limited items we currently have in our the Makerspace.
I am requesting these STEM kits, activities and other items to improve and expand our Makerspace. I would be grateful to have more choices for the students to choose from. Most of the items that we have are from teachers and are missing or have broken pieces.
Our school has approximately 976 students. We are a Title I school, and all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our children live in poverty. Our building contains grades PreK-4th grade.
