This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are part of a rural community in a high-poverty area. Many are being raised in single-parent households or by grandparents. Ninety-eight percent of students in my school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. There is also a large percentage of special education students in the school population.
The scanner is going to be used to help me manage several things in my classroom including sending homework or contacting parents about student work.
I would like to create a system where parents can easily save their child's work or know exactly what is going on in the classroom when they still cannot come into the building.
I feel as if this will open up the barriers of communication with parents to help them see and understand what is going on in the classroom or to digitally save their child's work from the year.
